Community land trusts are looking for new ways to expand permanently affordable housing while navigating rising construction costs, limited development capacity, challenging infill sites, and increasingly complex project requirements. Offsite construction can offer an opportunity to rethink how housing is designed and delivered.
To help CLTs evaluate whether modular construction makes sense for their work, Module has developed two practical resources starting with Is Modular Right for Me? and progressing to Offsite Construction Due Diligence Checklist.
The first resource walks CLTs through the early questions to consider. You may want to think through anything from project vision and site conditions to financing, design, and development capacity before deciding whether modular is a good fit.
For CLTs ready to proceed with a modular construction project, the second resources provides a more detailed framework. This checklist can be a tool and a conversation starter for evaluating an offsite construction partner, identifying project risks, and understanding the decisions that need to be made before committing to a modular approach.
