A Day of Action: Inside Module’s Mission-Driven Developer Program

Participants got to apply learning to their real life projects during MDDP Training

Last month, Module hosted an immersive, full-day experience as part of its Mission-Driven Developer Program and Last Mile Network initiatives.

Developers, lenders, general contractors, architects, land trusts, and housing enthusiasts participated in a rare opportunity to see modular housing in action.

A wide range of topics covered. Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Training for Real-World Execution

The morning kicked off with an in-depth training session focused on the critical building blocks of modular development; permitting, site logistics, and set day execution. Speakers included Marion Cake, project:Homes; Craig Riegelnegg; and leaders from Module Design, Module Manufacturing, and Module Build.

Key Takeaways Included:

1. Start early. Stay ahead.
Explore manufacturers, understand factory schedules, and engage your local jurisdiction upfront.

2. Design with reality in mind.
Know your site, your costs, and your codes. What works on paper has to work across factory and field, especially at the seams (utilities, logistics, inspections).

3. De-risk through coordination.
Modular success comes down to tight coordination across teams, timelines, and scopes, get that right, and everything else moves faster.

From Classroom to Field: Touring the Last Mile

After lunch, participants boarded a bus for a guided tour through projects in various stages of construction and ended the day at Module’s Last Mile Facility.

The tours provided a chance to visualize how modular projects come together in practice, and how careful planning upstream translates into efficiency on set day.

Looking Ahead

Module’s Mission-Driven Developer Program continues to create space for collaboration, education, and momentum in the modular housing sector. By grounding conversations in real-world applications, the program is helping accelerate the adoption of scalable, efficient housing solutions.

As the demand for innovative housing solutions grows, MDDP is excited to continue equipping leaders with the tools and confidence to move projects forward.
