Pittsburgh, PA - Module, a Pittsburgh-based modular housing company, today announced the launch of the Mission-Driven Developer Program (MDDP). The MDDP will provide up to $25,000 in pre-development lending, technical assistance, and/or discounted services to qualified developers in the affordable housing space.

“We believe the program can have a long-lasting impact on the neighborhoods we work in. Every Monday at our staff meetings we read our vision, which is ‘to build a world where everyone lives in a well-designed space they are proud to call home.’ Supporting developers who are committed to modular construction is essential to realizing our vision.” - Marquis Cofer, Chief Operating Officer, Module

In addition to pre-development loans, discounted design services, and technical assistance, developers will have access to office hours with experienced mentors and free access to Module's design, construction, and development playbooks. Developers in the program will be given priority on Module’s manufacturing line, which will shorten cycle times for developers who are creating affordable homes where they are needed most.

Applications are open from Wednesday, March 20, 2024, through Friday, May 3, 2024 at 5 pm EST. Applications will be accepted and awarded on a rolling basis. Submissions can be made at www.modulehousing.com/mddp.

The first developer selected for the program is Reverend Lee Walls of Amani Christian Community Development Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Amani, a non-profit, faith-based developer, is building affordable for-sale housing in the Hill District neighborhood, a community that has suffered from historic disinvestment.

"Their in-house capabilities make adhering to tight schedules a possibility, while delivering a very high-quality product that is priced competitively with traditional construction methods…We're already expecting to use Module's services on our next two developments!" - Jim Palmer, Director of Real Estate and Project Management, Amani Christian Community Development Corporation

In addition to Amani Christian Community Development, up to five additional developers will receive assistance through the program's first iteration.

Support for the MDDP comes from the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge, led by Enterprise Community Partners with support from the Wells Fargo Foundation. Module was a winner in the 2023 innovation competition, and the MDDP is a key component of its modular innovation. Additional support comes from the Richard King Mellon Foundation.
