Covid-19 Modular Housing Task Force
_webp.png)
Module, Blockhouse Residential, & SpringBoard Design – have teamed up to create a Covid-19 Modular Housing Task Force to develop a rapidly deployable solution to the space and housing challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. The task force is developing a prototype residential facility that can:
-
Provide respite for individuals and families affected by COVID 19 during the crisis
-
Alleviate pressure on the hospital systems given the forthcoming bed shortage in many facilities
-
Be converted into long-term, age-in-place affordable housing after the crisis subsides.
UPDATE:
Below is a presentation that provides an update on the progress made so far by the Covid-19 Modular Housing Task-Force. We hosted a webinar on Wednesday, April 15th at 2pm discussing additional updates and discussing next steps.
You can watch the recording of the webinar here.

ACTION-Housing
ACTION-Housing works with some of the regions most fragile populations providing housing and supportive services to low-income households and those with disabilities. Focused on protecting at-risk people during the COVID-19 crises, ACTION is working to make sure expanded services are available to all of our residents including individuals who live in buildings that provide basic housing in single-room occupancy buildings.
These include McKeesport Downtown Housing, Centre Avenue Y Apartments, and the Residences at Wood Street, providing 400+ units of housing. While these buildings provide individual sleeping rooms, the bathrooms are shared, presenting a challenge to protecting residents from a potential exposure to the virus. Due to COVID-19 many of these residents have lost their jobs and have few, if any, resources to use for food and self-care or personal safety items such as disinfecting wipes, soap, and masks.
To help these residents ACTION-Housing would welcome donations that can be used for masks, food, and disinfecting supplies. All donations are tax deductible and will be put to immediate and critical use.
